Napkin buying FAQ

Quick answers to the planning questions behind the calculator. More detail in our buyer's guides.

How many napkins do I need per guest at a wedding or event?
Plan about 1.5 dinner napkins and 2 cocktail/beverage napkins per guest for a seated meal, plus 1 guest towel per guest for restrooms. A 100-guest wedding therefore needs roughly 150 dinner napkins, 200 cocktail napkins and 100 guest towels — round up for spills and second servings.
How many napkins does a restaurant use per day?
Most restaurants use 1.5–2 napkins per cover. A 200-cover-per-day restaurant needs about 300–400 napkins daily, or 9,000–12,000 per month. Beverage-heavy concepts (cafes, bars) run closer to 2–3 per customer.
What ply napkin is best for restaurants?
2-ply is the sweet spot for most restaurants — it balances absorbency, feel and cost. 3-ply suits fine-dining and premium branding where thickness matters. 1-ply is only for very high-volume, cost-first settings.
How do I calculate napkin cost per cover?
Multiply napkins per cover by the unit price. At 1.5 napkins per cover and a $0.06/unit 2-ply napkin, cost per cover is about $0.09. Multiply by daily covers to get daily and monthly napkin spend.
Are airlaid napkins better than paper napkins?
Airlaid napkins look and feel like linen, are disposable, and need no laundering — ideal for weddings and upscale events. Paper (virgin or recycled) is far cheaper for everyday high-volume use. Choose airlaid when presentation matters more than unit cost.
What is the MOQ for custom printed napkins?
Custom printed and private-label napkins start at a 5,000-piece MOQ per design. Stock plain and printed programs often ship faster. Send your logo or design brief for a print-ready proof before production.
